John Harold Hawkins was born May 22, 1892, in Forsyth County, Georgia, the son of Perry C. Hawkins and Della Bramblett Hawkins. He was admitted to the Bar in 1916 and served as official court reporter of the Blue Ridge Circuit. Hawkins was nominated Associate Justice of the Georgia Supreme Court in the Democratic primary held September 8, 1948. The papers of Judge Hawkins include correspondence and printed materials related to his 1948 campaign, a small number of administrative and case files maintained by legal assistant Harold Glore, personal correspondence, clippings and photographs.

John Harold Hawkins was born May 22, 1892, in Forsyth County, Georgia. His paternal grandfather was Fed. M. Hawkins, a member of the House of Representatives of Georgia from Forsyth County. Judge Hawkins was admitted to the Bar December 26, 1916. In 1948, Chief Justice W.F.
